Market Day
With the Changemaker Program, we make entrepreneurial thinking and action tangible for primary school children. We spark interest in economic relationships and encourage children, through active project work, to participate confidently in the economy and society.
The inspiration for this came from ‘Lemonade Day’, an American initiative that encourages children to become entrepreneurial in a playful way, with more than 1 million young people already having participated.
Together with our partners from the Initiative for Teaching Entrepreneurship and the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems, we began in 2017 to develop a Lemonade Day ‘with an Austrian character’, aiming to introduce as many primary school children as possible to entrepreneurship in an engaging and exciting way.
The basic idea is simple: We train students in the fields of entrepreneurship and pedagogy, and these ‘changemakers’ support primary school children in implementing their first entrepreneurship project—helping them turn their own ideas into reality.
The school workshops cover topics such as:
How do I find a good idea?
What is my market and who are my customers?
How can I do business sustainably?
The final highlight is the ‘Market Day’, where the children sell their self-made products at their own stands.

Why primary
schools?
We want to foster early awareness of and interest in entrepreneurial thinking and action as a basic competence for the children’s future life paths.
Entrepreneurs play an essential role in our society. At Market Day, children experience their first entrepreneurial success with the support of students.
They learn a new perspective and discover that they can create value in society through their ideas and actions.
Why
Entrepreneurship?
The world needs entrepreneurs. In today’s economy and professional world, active participation and shaping the future are required. Our fast-paced, highly connected, and constantly changing society faces many complex challenges but also offers many opportunities. Therefore, in the future we will need special skills to help shape the world and create value.
Whether as an employee, manager, founder, freelancer, project initiator, or private individual – we can all become active as entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs dare to develop new ideas, see challenges as opportunities, and implement innovative solutions.
Entrepreneurship skills can be trained. This is exactly where our program comes in.
